Questions:

1) I am getting a "crypt32.dll" error.
2) I am having troubles getting my virus services to start.
3) I am getting "sharing violations" on install.
4) How should I load this on my NT server?
5) I can't FTP through the browser.
6) ProxyBuilder hangs 3/28/98
7) Virus filter must be chained.
8) When I have firewall authentication turned on, and I try ftp through VirusWall, I keep getting access denied errors.
9) My CPU is going to 100%

Answers:

1) I am getting a "crypt32.dll error.
Before loading Interscan Viruswall, make sure IE 3.02 (with authenicode 2.0) and IIS is installed on the machine. After installing Interscan, you may get error messages regarding invalid entry point in crypt32.dll. Reapply Service Pack 3 and REPLACE the crypt32 file (even though it says file on disk is newer).

2) I am having troubles getting my virus services to start.
    a) Make sure IIS HTTP/FTP services are installed, but disabled (disable them at startup).
    b) If you download the new virus control list and 100% doesn't copy across, the HTTP and FTP services will not start and you will not get an error in the Event Viewer. Copy the file again.
    c) Make sure you have installed the http proxy that comes with TM, even if you have your own proxy server. If you do not add this guy, you may not be able to FTP through the browser.

3) I am getting "sharing violations" on install.
You may have improperly uninstalled a previous TM installation. You must stop all 3 services, remove the programs, and delete the relevent registry entries:
/HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/CProxy, ISFTPD, ISHTTPD, ISSMTPD
Then reboot and reinstall.

4) How should I load this on my NT server?
See questions 1 and 2c. Make sure you chain your proxies properly. Usually, you will chain virus-> cproxy-> netscape proxy-> firewall proxy (if applicable). Note: to chain CProxy, you must go to Control Panel/Proxy Builder. Turn on "use DNS", turn off caching (if you are using another proxy like NS), and cascade to an upstream proxy.

5) I can't FTP through the browser.
See question 2c.

6) ProxyBuilder hangs 3/28/98
Proxy builder on NT hangs sometimes as of this date. Change cache to size 0 bytes.

7) Virus Filter must be chained.
HTTP Virus Filter must be chained to some sort of caching proxy filter like proxy builder of MS proxy server. It will default to localhost and port 80 if you leave the fields blank.

8) When I have firewall authentication turned on, and I try ftp through VirusWall, I keep getting access denied errors.
A: ftp to the trend machine, and use the following sequence:
user: <firewall user>@<destination server>
password: <firewall password>
user <destination user>
password: <destination password>

9) My CPU is going to 100%
Bug in trend micro 2.52. Call us for patch and install in c:\winnt\system32\vsapi32.dll . Updated file should 281Kilobytes.
